My first plane journey was from Dublin to Brisbane back in 1997. Little did I know at the time, that I would eventually call Australia home. Originally from Ireland, I made the move to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, but fell in love with Australia almost instantly. Several years later I obtained my permanent residency, using the services of a registered migration agent. I was intrigued, and after several years in the business world I got to experience assisting staff move from overseas to Australia. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to become a migration agent, and after studying an intense Graduate Certificate in Migration Law at Australian National University (ANU), I become a registered migration agent. To date I have helped thousands of people follow their dreams to move downunder.
I started a migration agency, Konnecting in 1998, and in 2023 was delighted to be given the opportunity to join the Arrive Australia team. My core areas of expertise include employer sponsored visas, general skilled migration, global recruitment and strategic immigration consulting.
That moment when you are able to tell someone their visa has been approved – they can start their dream life in Australia, its so uplifting.
My Australian story began aged 7, my parents got Australian visas. I had my gold kangaroo pin and Australian dreams; but my parents decided not to move! I was devastated and vowed then that one day I would go to Australia.
20 years later on a holiday here with my wife Ger, a chance meeting with a migration agent and the resulting permanent residence changed the course of our lives.
Through voluntary social justice work I got to visit many detainees at the infamous Villawood Detention Centre, it was meeting people there advocating for detainees that inspired me to become a migration agent.
Arrive Australia has been helping people since 2001.
A lot has changed since then. Immigration law becomes tougher every year, constantly challenging; but we keep helping people to find their way.
For me, Australia is the best place. It is a fantastic feeling to help others realise their dream of living here and change their lives.

I grew up in Muttaburra, Western Queensland; a town of 100 people where kangaroos actually lie around in your yard. I had a big extended family with my grandmother at the helm. She helped everybody. I do my best to emulate her; to see every person’s story, and understand their dreams.
She also imparted a strong sense of fairness and equality, inspiring me to want to make a difference in people’s lives.
Maria is from Belfast in Northern Ireland. She obtained her LLB (Hons) majoring in Law and Criminology from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown in 2009 and went on to obtain an LLM in Human Rights and Criminal Justice from Queens University, Belfast in 2010.
She arrived in Australia in early 2011 and began her career in Migration law .
Maria completed a Graduate Diploma in Australian Migration Law and Practice at Victoria University in Melbourne in 2013 and is a Registered Migration Agent.
Maria joined Arrive Australia Migration Services in 2019 and has several years’ experience specialising in Australian visa applications, and has obtained visas for hundreds of clients, (including achieving Australian citizenship for herself and her partner), from countries all over the world, including India, China, Ireland, the Philippines, America, New Zealand, the UK and several more.
Outside of work, Maria is a keen soccer and tennis player and loves the outdoor lifestyle that Australia offers.

Immigration is an incredibly interesting field, it is constantly changing which makes for a challenging and rewarding career. I’m passionate about making a difference. I love the excited reaction of our clients when they hear their future is secured here. In my spare time I love reading classic novels full of descriptive imagery like “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
